Disability for lumbar pain in post operated patients of hernia lumbar in relation to the implant of osteosynthetic material in the San Felipe Clinic in the year 2018

Abstract

Objective: To establish the relationship between disability due to low back pain and implantation of osteosynthetic material in post-operated patients of lumbar hernia in the San Felipe clinic of the Jesús María district in 2018.

Material and Method: 30 patients were included, divided into two groups 15 patients ¨group 1¨ which are post-operated lumbar hernia with implantation of ostosynthetic titanium material and 15 patients ¨group 2¨ which are postoperated lumbar hernia with implantation of Coflex osteosynthetic material, ages between 18 70 years old The Owestry Test was used to measure the Degree of Disability.

Results: The percentage of patients with a degree of disability due to post lumbar pain operated with a titanium implant does not show significant relief, resulting in 80% of them with a degree of disability of 41 - 60% considered as intense and 60 - 80% considered disabled. Postoperated herniated patients with implantation of coflex osteosynthetic material decreases significantly, observing that 100% have a minimum degree of disability of 0-20% and moderate of 2140%.

Conclusion: This study demonstrates that there is a significant difference in the degree of disability in postoperative patients with Coflex implants and those of titanium, indicating that there is a better outcome and better evolution in patients using Coflex.
