Abstract

Objective: To determine the level of general and specific quality of life related to chronic heart failure in patients treated at the cardiology service of Hipolito Unanue Hospital in Tacna, 2016-2018.

Material and method: An observational cross-sectional, prospective and analytical study in the line of risk prevention research and epidemiological-clinical studies. For the study, a total of 145 patients diagnosed with chronic heart failure were considered.

Results: 80% of the patients were 60 years old or older, 53.1% were male. 36.6% were underweight. 63.4% had a disease time between 1 to 5 years, 46.2% had hypertension followed by 20% with diabetes. 6.9% who was hypertension plus diabetes.

According to the MLHFG, 64.8% had a standard of quality of life. The associated variables were age (p: 0.000), marital status (p: 0.001), body mass index (p: 0.00) and disease time (p: 0.00). According to SF 36, the mental and physical spheres were compromised.

Conclusions: There was a significant association between both instruments, MLHFQ and SF 36 (p: 0.00). There is a strong dependence level between both indices (r: 0.733)
