Labor accidents in the area of construction as part of the national news

Abstract

Objective. Determine the types of work accidents most frequent in the construction area as part of the national news between the years 2011 to 2016, at national level. Material y metodos: Design. Retrospective cross-sectional. Participants. Construction workers. Interventions. The analysis of secondary data was of documentary type considering 66 reports of work accidents to the community through announcements of published news. Main outcome measures. Prevalence, frequency. Results. Of the 66 reports studied, 156 male workers were identified, between 20 and 39 years of age (65.8%). The place of the event with more frequency is the province of Lima, followed by Arequipa and Trujillo. The news report that most reports these facts is the newspaper El Comercio followed by RPP news. The most frequent types of injuries caused in the cases of accidents at work are falls, landslides and collapses, identified in 72.2%, the specific mortality of work accidents analyzed is 4 per thousand. Conclusions. It is concluded that there is a high prevalence of occurrence of occupational accidents and the most frequent types of accidents were by falls, landslides, and crushing.
