Abstract

Objective: To determine the relationship of the salivary profile with the ceod index in the 5 year-old children of the I.E.I. N ° 225 Children Heroes. Material and method: Type of observational, prospective, cross - sectional and cross - sectional observational study. It was carried out in the environments of the initial educational institution "Children Heroes" n ° 225 of Tacna. Results: The salivary profile was as follows: Salivary flow was increased by 50% and normal in the other 50%, pH was acidic in 10%, 46% neutral and alkaline in 44%; The buffer capacity was high in 46%, normal in 44% and low in 10%, and the 70% counts of streptococcus mutans were low and 30% in the medium. Ceod index was found above the scale by 48%, high by 22% and moderate by 10% of the 5-year-old children. Conclusions: The relationship between the salivary profile and the Ceod index was: statistically significant related to salivary flow (p: 0.000); (P: 0.001) and with Streptococcus mutans (p: 0.009). It was found that there is no significant difference with pH (p: 0.566) in the 5-year-old children.
